There are some of us who feel the cold more that others, or who simply live in climates that are cooler than others, and so with this in mind, we always include a range of chunky scarf and shawls that are made from textiles that add warmth and/or weight without compromising on style. We often refer to these as "Winter Weight Scarves".
Whilst some of these scarves are clearly bulkier to look at, some are deceivingly similar to the eye yet offer tremendous warmth without the bulk. Cashmere is one example of this when it may look fine and elegant yet provide exceptional warmth depending on the weave.
In general however, it is wise to look at the weight in gsm which will elevate to over 300gsm if you are seeking a really warm wrap. Or consider the warmth of cashmere blends from 280gsm or above which have extraordinary heating qualities, as is Wool Twill or Pure Wool.
If these are not within your budget, polyester is warm and cosy, as is acrylic - both used widely in the fashion industry often as a blend of a few warm threads to add weight and warmth to a scarf keeping you comfortable and elegant no matter what the conditions.
